The Scottish White Fish Producers Association Limited (SWFPA) was set up in 1943 to protect the interests of fishermen in Scotland. It is the largest organisation of its kind in the UK. The activity of it's members account for some seventy percent of the Scottish demersal revenue and around 40% of the UK.
SWFPA has developed over time to reflect the changing nature of Scottish fisheries, evolving politically to respond to the modem aspect of European fisheries management which includes a cooperative approach to stock preservation. SWFPA has maintained its position at the forefront of the political lobby playing a lead role in shaping domestic, and European fishing policy. The delivery of a profitable and sustainable industry is our ultimate goal, and working with others in the Scottish Fishermen's Federation and beyond to achieve that goal is our strategy.
